RATIFICATION OF COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS


a.

Recommendation from Committee of the Whole – January 15, 2018

Recommendation:  That the Gas Tax Funded consultants review project (regarding aquifer protection DPA and storm water management) Terms of Reference and/or Request for Proposal be forwarded to the Sustainable Land Use Select Committee for review and comment when it is available.

RE:  TRAFFIC SAFETY/REGULATION
Recommendation:  That the report from the Chief Administrative Officer dated January 3, 2018, be referred to a Special  Committee of the Whole meeting on February 26, 2018 to consider the following options:

1. That support in principle be given to undertake a speed limit/traffic signage review of the Millstream Lake/Ross Durrance, Millstream and Munn corridors subject to approval of up to 50% cost sharing from ICBC;

2. That support in principle be given to undertake a traffic safety review within the parameters recommended in the report from the Chief Administrative Officer dated January 3, 2018 subject to approval of 50% cost sharing from ICBC;

3. That support in principle be given to purchase a speed reader board, subject to approval of 50% cost sharing from ICBC;

4. That staff be directed to continue collaborating with the West Shore RCMP in respect to traffic speed/aggressive driving enforcement;

5. That staff be directed to liaise with ICBC regarding developing an education program on traffic safety, along with other potential initiatives that would be volunteer/resident driven, and with ICBC and the RCMP regarding the potential implementation of a Speed Watch Program if deemed appropriate; and

6. That the District’s share of a speed limit/traffic signage or traffic safety review and purchase of a speed reader board and related operating funds be included in the draft Five Year Financial Plan for consideration.

Recommendation:  That those members of Council wishing to attend the 2018 AVICC Convention being held in Victoria, BC be authorized to do so.

RE:  EOC GRANT OPPORTUNITY
Recommendation:  That staff be authorized to prepare and submit an application to the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund for Emergency Operations Centre equipment.

Motion:  That Council move In Camera to discuss items pursuant to the Community Charter, specifically Section 90(1) (e) the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements,  if the council considers that disclosure could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality ; and Section 90(1) (g) litigation or potential litigation affecting the municipality.
