The HDCA was registered in 1965 as the Highland District Ratepayers Association under the British Columbia Society Act. The current name was adopted a few years later to indicate all residents and property owners are eligible for membership. The HDCA provides opportunities for social, cultural, and educational activities. Contact Kenn Farris for more information.
The Highlands Firefighters Association (HFA) is a group who sponsors annual community events such as the Santa Run, Safety Fair, and the Halloween celebrations at the fire halls. The membership, consisting of volunteer firefighters including honorary retired members, also organizes social events for the firefighters such as the annual banquet, etc. Contact Jason Schuttinga at 250-508-3479.
This group concerns itself with the preservation and ongoing care and maintenance of the Caleb Pike Heritage Park. Members are welcome. Contact Sally Gose at 250-474-3403 for more information.
Community Garden - A Highlands Community Garden has been created at a site beside the Community Hall at 729 Finlayson Arm Road. A volunteer committee has been working on this project over the last couple of years. The land has been prepared, garden beds have been built and the area looks fabulous.
Volunteer Victoria works with 16,500 volunteers and 350 community agencies to provide mentorship, advising, training, and volunteer management services to help youth, adults, and organizations reduce barriers, gain momentum, and make positive change.
